Rugby is a team contact sport that involves running with the ball and tackling the other team with the ultimate goal of scoring tries on a football-sized field.

Depending on the number of tournament the team enters throughout its season, the Barons girl's rugby team will play with 10 or 15 players on the field at a time. They also enter between two to three tournaments throughout the season, which includes Zones and Provincials.

The season begins in March and runs until early June. Team fees are $125, plus any banquet or team apparel costs.

Girls Rugby Season 2018/2019

The 2018 rugby season was the most successful season in Baron’s rugby history. The team won all tournaments they entered, the Shaw Cup in Cold Lake, Clearwater 7s in Calgary and the Baron 7s in Lloydminster. The team finished 6th in the province and had a record of 20 wins to only 2 losses. This year we are very excited with the number of the returning players we have to improve on that record and win a medal at provincials.

Our 2019 season is taking shape and these are the dates for the tournaments we are currently entered in:

May 3 and 4 Shaw Cup in Cold Lake

May 9 to 11 Clearwater 7s in Calgary

May 24 Baron 7s in Lloydminster

Practices start week of March 4th! All girls are welcome to join the team regardless if you have played rugby before. Please see Mr Grillandini or Mrs Fletcher for details or to sign up to the remind 101 group for important information about the upcoming season for fundraising opportunities.
